Mello ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting the privacy of our users, especially children. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the Mello app ("App").

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

• Account Information: Your name and email address when you create an account or sign in with Apple.
• Child Information: Your child's first name and age, which you provide to personalize stories. We do not collect information directly from children.
• Audio Data: Voice recordings you provide for voice narration. These are processed to create a voice model and stored securely in your account.
• User ID: A unique identifier associated with your account for authentication and data management.
• Purchase History: Information about your subscription status to manage access to premium features.
• Product Interaction: How you use the App (stories created, features used) to improve our service and provide analytics.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, operate, and improve the App
• Generate personalized bedtime stories using your child's name and age
• Use your voice to narrate stories
• Manage your subscription and account
• Analyze usage patterns to improve features
• Communicate with you about your account or the App

3. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

Mello is designed for parents and caregivers to use with their children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. All information about children (name and age) is provided by the parent or guardian. The App includes a parental gate to restrict access to account settings and certain features.

If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.

4. Voice Data

Voice recordings are used solely for voice narration within the App. Your voice data is:

• Stored securely and linked to your account
• Processed by our voice synthesis service (Chatterbox) to generate narration
• Never sold, shared with third parties for advertising, or used for any purpose other than providing the voice narration feature
• Deletable at any time through your account settings

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the App:

• Supabase: Authentication and secure data storage
• Anthropic (Claude): AI story generation
• Replicate (Chatterbox): Voice synthesis and narration
• Apple StoreKit / RevenueCat: Subscription and payment processing

These services process data only as necessary to provide their respective functions and are bound by their own privacy policies.

6. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and at rest, row-level security on our database, and secure authentication via Sign in with Apple.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data (including voice recordings, stories, and personal information) at any time by contacting us at support@mellobedtime.com.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Object to or restrict processing of your data
• Data portability

9. No Tracking or Advertising

Mello does not track you across other apps or websites. We do not use your data for advertising purposes. We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use any advertising SDKs or tracking pixels.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy in the App or on our website. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
